Pregnancy Update #2

So I now reached the end of month #6, and I keep asking myself just how big this belly of mine will still become!

I feel like a Christmas bauble on legs, and it all just won't stop. I suffer from "side effects", e.g. nausea, heartburn, back pains and being tired all the time.

However, my doctor is very happy with how everything is going during my pregnancy. Those "side effects", she says, are completely normal, but she understands that after some time, they are just a pain in the … oops :-)!

All in all, I'm feeling absolutely great!

Schwangerschaftsupdate 2

Pregnancy update

Hi everyone – time for some news from me!

On January 20th, I have an appointment for an amniocentesis, and I'm absolutely excited about that – and well, a little afraid, too! The baby in my belly is fine! The next doctor's appointment is on January 19th. It's then when I will learn what growth and weight my baby will have until then!

Halfway through the pregnancy time, I will receive a 3D ultrasonic picture where we will be able to even recognize the facial features etc. of my child.

Well, and in general, I'm pretty fine, except for being very tired, and for having a real craving for healthy food … but I also fancy hamburgers and stuff like that … and also eat a lot of fruit! :-)

I'll keep you posted after the next check-up!

Schwangerschaftsupdate

Näheres nach der nächsten Untersuchung!

My grandparents

My grandparents have been dead for one resp. two years. I still grieve for them, and I cannot let go. October 31st and November 5th are two absolutely black days for me … Within one year (February 13th 2009 to March 3rd 2010) I lost both my grandparents.

They were my replacement parents, and they were absolute figures of authority, to whom I almost never put up an argument.

My mother was always beside herself when I wanted to visit my grandparents yet again. At her funeral, anyone there told me that I had had a very special bond with my grandma. I had a nervous breakdown at her grave, and I actually almost fell into the open grave. While I am writing this, tears keep rolling down my cheeks, because I have to think so intensely of my grandparents.

The funeral brought people back together that I remembered well from my childhood, and they also told me funny stories from my childhood days:

For example that I always was sucking my thumb, and that I had had a cuddly toy turtle that I had with me absolutely all the time  —  but all of a sudden, that turtle had vanished. The ladies from my grandma's shop (my grandma, my mom, and my aunt …) all started searching everywhere, because I would have thrown a massive tantrum without my turtle. I could still remember that I had been at a neighbour's house, to check out their rabbits … And there was the turtle: When I had to go to the bathroom, it had obviously fallen into the bathtub when I had put the turtle in the rim of the tub :-)!

As a child, I once also fell into a fountain in our town, because I had tried to kick the butt of a friend of mine. Doing so, I lost my shoe, and it plunged into the fountain. I went after it, to fish it out again, lost my balance and landed in the water. Soaking wet, and with my laughing friend at my side, I went to my grandma, who dressed me in fresh clothes and then only said: "Child, how on Earth did you do that?" Later, we all had a good laugh on that story, drinking cocoa with honey.

My grandpa was an authority figure; I could never be fresh to him, or put up an argument when he said something. His word was the law, no matter if yay or nay!

When my grandpa had his 80th birthday, he was unwrapping his presents, and we grand-children were supposed to help him. All of a sudden, he made a remark, and we all had to laugh. My mum came in and asked what was going on. And when we said that grandpa just had made one of his funny remarks, my mother was really surprised, because she did not really know this side of her father :-))) …

I used to make a phone-call to my grandparents once a week. Today, I now that they are angels who are close to me every single day of my life!!!!

Holidays in Switzerland

On Friday, September 30th 2011, we boarded a train towards Switzerland. At 7 p.m., we arrived sage and sound, but also very tired at my mother's place. We were both hungry like wolves, and had dinner. Our tummies were stuffed after that, so that we had both trouble sleeping all night long. At around 3:30a.m., we finally fell asleep for a while, and woke up again at 7:30 a.m.

After we had gotten dressed and finished our morning toilet, we went down to have breakfast, and there were grandma and grandpa waiting for us already. :-) Angelina was looking forward a lot to the both of them, and so, breakfast took a little linger as usual. :-) Exchanging lots of stories and making funny faces really made breakfast amusing that day … ;-)

On Saturday, we hap planned to make a trip to the Säntis, but there was so much hustle and bustle that we turned back and instead looked around at the beautiful town of Appenzell. They were having a celebration going on, with several choirs performing. That's why the inhabitants of Appenzell call it "Chorfest" (choir fest)! :-)

We had a bratwurst there and strolled through the peaceful town. It's really sweet, rustic town which has a small pedestrian precinct, too. Really nice! :-)

Finally, we went back home tom my mother's and had a little bit of rest, because there was a roast venison dinner planned for the evening.

Sunday was more of a quiet day. We went for a walk, bought some cake and had coffee. Plenty of rest, and a good deal of walking!

On Monday, we made a bigger day trip. We went to the Rhine Valley and crossed from Switzerland via Liechtenstein over to Austria! Really a dream. In Feldkirch (Austria), we made a stop and took a walk through the pedestrian mall and did some window shopping.

Later, taking the route via Altstätten, we went back home to my mother's, where we had a nice Swiss style dinner! :-)

On the following day, our journey home to Germany was due. We arrived at 6:30 p.m., and treated ourselves with some dinner at a famous fast food chain restaurant! :-)
